Our Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee

We Build Leather Goods That Last & We Stand Behind Every Stitch

When you invest in a First Manufacturing Co leather product, you're not just buying a jacket, vest, or pair of gloves. You're investing in quality craftsmanship built to ride with you for years. That's why every leather item we make comes with our Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

If something goes wrong due to how we made it, we'll make it right, whether that's a repair, replacement, or rebuild.

What's Covered

Our Lifetime Warranty protects you against manufacturing defects for as long as your product exists. Here's what we've got your back on:

Leather Materials

All genuine leather on jackets, vests, chaps, gloves, and other leather goods

Hardware Components

  •  Zippers

  •  Buckles

  •  Snaps

  •  Rivets

  •  D-rings

  •  Other metal hardware

Construction Quality

  • Stitching failures

  • Seam separation

  • Lining defects

Applies To:

  • Stock products purchased directly from FirstMFG.com

  • Custom-built products

  •  Both domestic and international orders

Important Note on Non-Leather Materials:

Products made with canvas, denim, twill, or mesh fabrics are not covered for material defects, but the hardware on these items is still protected under this warranty.

What's Not Covered

We build our products tough, but they're not indestructible. This warranty doesn't cover:

Normal Wear & Aging

  •  Natural leather fading or color changes

  •  Creasing and patina development

  •  Minor surface scuffs from regular use

Damage from Use or Accidents

  •  Cuts, tears, or punctures

  •  Burns or heat damage

  •  Crash or impact damage

  •  Pet damage (scratches, bites, chewing)

Modifications & Alterations

  •  Patches applied after purchase (see below)

  •  Customer-added hardware or embellishments

  •  Tailoring or alterations done outside First MFG Co

  •  Dyeing or chemical treatments

Improper Care

  •  Machine washing

  •  Damage from harsh chemicals or cleaners

  •  Mold or mildew from improper storage

  •  Over-soaking or water damage from neglect

The Patch Policy - Please Read Carefully

Once you apply patches to your product, it can no longer be returned, exchanged, or submitted for warranty repair.

Here's why: Removing patches damages the leather and stitching, making it impossible for us to properly assess manufacturing defects or perform quality repairs.

This applies to:

  •  Iron-on patches

  •  Sewn-on patches

  •  Adhesive patches

  •  Any permanent decorations added after purchase

Plan ahead: If you're considering patches, make sure your product fits perfectly and meets your expectations first.

How to Keep Your Warranty Valid

Leather is incredibly durable when treated right. Follow these care guidelines to keep your warranty active and your gear looking great:

DO:

  •  Clean with leather-specific products

  •  Condition regularly to maintain suppleness and shine

  •  Spot clean stains with a damp cloth and mild soap

  •  For deep cleaning: briefly soak in lukewarm water, then air dry (don't over-soak)

  •  Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight

DON'T:

  •  Machine wash or dry

  •  Use harsh chemicals, bleach, or household cleaners

  •  Leave soaking for extended periods

  •  Expose to extreme heat sources

  •  Store in damp or humid conditions

Purchased from Amazon or a Retail Partner?

Our warranty covers First Manufacturing Co products no matter where you bought them. Whether you ordered from our website, Amazon, or an authorized retailer, we'll take care of you.

Just have your order details ready when you contact us.

About Proof of Purchase & Eligibility

Yes, we require your order number or proof of purchase to verify and process your warranty claim. This helps us confirm the purchase date and product details.

Yes, absolutely. Contact us with whatever information you have, approximate purchase date, the email address used for the order, or the name on the purchase. We'll search our system and do our best to locate your order.

Ask the person who gave you the gift for the order number or receipt. If that's not possible, contact us anyway. We may be able to locate the order using other details like the product style, size, or approximate purchase timeframe.

Yes. Our warranty stays with the product for as long as it exists, regardless of who owns it. However, you'll need the original order information to file a claim. Try to get this from the previous owner if possible.

No. As long as your product exists and the issue is a manufacturing defect (not normal wear), you can file a claim. That's what "lifetime" means, we stand behind our work indefinitely.

About What's Covered

If the zipper failed due to a manufacturing defect (faulty teeth, broken pull, defective slider), yes, it's absolutely covered. If it broke due to forcing it, catching it on something, or overloading pockets, that would be considered damage from use. Send us photos and we'll assess it.

Yes. Stitching failure is a manufacturing defect and is covered under warranty. Reach out with photos showing the loose stitching, and we'll take care of it.

Hardware defects including premature rusting or corrosion are covered. However, some tarnishing or patina on metal hardware is normal over time, especially with exposure to the elements. Send us photos and we'll determine if it's a defect or natural aging.

Not at all. Leather can handle getting wet, that's normal use. The warranty remains valid. Just make sure to let it air dry naturally (never use direct heat) and condition it afterward to maintain the leather's integrity.

Yes. Whether you have black, brown, tan, or any custom color, the warranty coverage is identical. The color doesn't affect the quality of our craftsmanship or materials.

About the Claims Process

You cover the cost to ship the item to us. Once we complete the repair or send a replacement, we cover the return shipping back to you. We recommend using a trackable shipping method for your protection.

Timelines vary depending on the specific issue and our current workload. Most repairs are completed and shipped back within 2-3 weeks after we receive your item. If it's going to take longer, we'll keep you updated.

No. To maintain quality control and honor the warranty properly, all repairs must be done by First Manufacturing Co. Unauthorized repairs may void your warranty, and we cannot reimburse for outside work.

About Replacements & Alternatives

If we determine the item can't be properly repaired, we'll replace it with the same product. If that exact item is discontinued or unavailable, we'll offer you an alternative of equal value. For custom products, we may offer a custom rebuild to your original specifications.

We'll work with you to find the best alternative. "Equal value" is based on your original purchase price, and we'll present options that match your needs as closely as possible. Your satisfaction matters to us.

Warranty claims are specifically for defect resolution—repair or equivalent replacement. If you'd like to upgrade to a different product, contact our customer service team separately. We're happy to discuss options, but it would be a new purchase rather than a warranty claim.

Custom products are fully covered under our warranty. If repair isn't possible, we'll offer a custom rebuild using your original specifications and measurements. You'll get the same personalized attention and craftsmanship as your original order.

Other Common Questions

No. Leather is a natural material that develops character with age and use. Fading, patina, color variation, and the leather softening or stretching slightly are all normal and actually add to the appeal of quality leather goods. These aren't defects—they're features.

Neglecting leather care doesn't automatically void the warranty, but it can cause damage that isn't covered. If the leather cracks, dries out, or breaks down due to lack of conditioning, that's considered damage from improper care, not a manufacturing defect. We always recommend regular conditioning to keep your gear in top shape.

The warranty specifically covers manufacturing defects, not fit preferences or style changes. If you want a different size or style, please reach out to our customer service team about return, exchange, or purchase options outside of the warranty process.
